What we did and saw:
Arrived in Schoolcraft State Park around 6pm. Difficult place to find, out in the middle of nowhere, but worth it. On the banks of the (not so mighty) Mississippi river. Not far from its source. Mr. Schoolcraft supposedly camped on this sight while searching for the source of the Mississippi. There was a lonely park warden (Vance) who would have talked for days if we had let him. He had nice memories of Canada and esp. the Yukon.
We experienced a Minnesota storm, but fortunately didn't get the wind, at least as told to us by the camp warden, our friend, Vance.
Olivia started her very first fire all by herself
We met our friend Vance, the park ranger. There were only a few people in the campground, so he was glad to see and talked our ears off. He had been to Canada, and so was interested in talking about that. He was impressed about Canada because 'there are no (bullet) holes in the stop signs'.
Animals we saw
Frogs : The place was filled with frogs. We went down on a little hike to the shore of the mighty Mississippi, and there were frogs everywhere. We even saw some up by our campground. Toads : Not as many as frogs, but we saw quite a few. White-Tailed Deer : We went for a hike through the forest, and saw a deer on the trail in front of us. It stood and stared at us for about 20 seconds, before it finally bounded away
