Day 13 Grey Bay Campground - Ferry to Prince Rupert.

What a day. Got up early to be at Moresby Explorers base camp in Sandspit for our one day rafting trip to Haida village sites.

Doug, the owner, gave us a special tour. Went through some narrows, then a wildlife sanctuary, then onto Skedans, an old Haida village.

Doug proved to be a great guide. He grew up there and knows all the Haida, and the land, ocean and islands. Good stories and good history of Haida and the villages. Lots of logging info, as he's a past logger as well. Doug gave us the tour of Skedans. The village 'keeper' is supposed to give the tour, but she was a 17 year old Haida with a baby and so was occupied. Doug knew her and her family.

Got back for the 7pm ferry to Queen Charlotte City just in time. Ate in a restaurant with others from the trip (it's a small town).

Got onto the 11pm Prince Ruper ferry and managed to get a cabin. We all had a good sleep after such a busy.

The ferry we took from the Queen Charlottes to Prince Rupert was one of three on this route. Of course, one of them sank in April 2006 on the Port Hardy to Prince Rupert run.
