Day 18 Bowron Lakes - Barkerville

Visited Barkerville. Good visit. Well worth it. Saw three shows:

  • Mining Investment: Two guys trying to get people to invest into their mining operation. Very funny.
  • School house and teacher as of 1872: We were all students and had to stand up to speak and answer questions. Scary. We were all nervous.
  • Street theatre: A couple of shows, taking place in the street. Good.

History from 1860-1910. Some of the articles are familiar from cottages we've been in. Good supper in Wells, the mining town close by. Tried to come back to Barkerville after supper but it was all closed up.

Barkerville was, at one point during the gold rush, the 3rd largest town west of the Rockies (or something like that).
